Nikon D800 Review

The Nikon D800 (and nearly identical D800E) is one of the very best DSLR cameras for almost any setting (nature, landscape, outdoor and even sports photography). The only real competitor to the Nikon D800 is Canon's 5D Mark 3 in terms of specs and performance. The D800 is the much anticipated upgrade of it's predecessor - the Nikon D700 - but offers photographers the video and resolution capability that the Nikon D700 simply couldn't, which makes the Nikon D800 a viable option for professional photographers.

The D800 contains the mega-sized 36.3 million pixel sensor which allows photographers to blow up pictures to extra large fine art prints (or poster prints) if they so desire without worrying about losing detail. In fact, the resolution of the D800 more than doubles that of Nikon's iconic D4 which currently retails around $6000, and has become a standard among many professionals.

The Nikon D800 also offers some of the sharpest images around and amazing pictures at sky-high ISO levels. Its ISO range is 100-6400 natively, and expandable up to 25,600. This means that the Nikon D800 can take great pictures in low light and allow photographers an incredibly diverse option of venues in which they can shoot with confidence regardless of lighting conditions. No more worrying about having to put the camera away after the sun goes down with this bad boy. With the Nikon D800 you will enjoy taking pictures inside where light might be scarce and well after dark for some incredible low-light and long exposure photography.

The Nikon D800 offers a virtual cinematic experience with its Full HD 1080p shooting capability and features like aperture, ISO, AT and shutter speed control as well as the ability to use headphones directly with the Nikon D800 to monitor audio levels. With a super fast 51-point auto focus system with 15 Cross Type AF sensors, this camera will deliver ultra sharp pictures and vidoes with ease.

The Nikon D800 also comes with a 921,000 dot -3.2 inch LCD monitor to view and preview all of your images in stunning clarity. You can also use the amazing Live View shooting mode to see exactly what your photograph will look like before you ever even hit the release button and make adjustments on the fly if needed.

Another really cool feature available with the Nikon D800 is the built-in HDR mode which allows you to capture a single image with a wide range of tonal values without expensive third party software. Once you start to learn the types of images that you can capture with HDR mode you will surely be hooked.
